बेळगाव: शहरातील जोशीमळा परिसरात बुधवार (ता. ९ जुलै) रोजी सकाळी मन हेलावणारी घटना समोर आली. चिटफंड व्यवहारातून निर्माण झालेल्या मानसिक तणावामुळे एकाच कुटुंबातील चार जणांनी विष प्राशन करून आत्महत्या करण्याचा प्रयत्न केला. यामध्ये तिघांचा मृत्यू झाला असून, एका महिलेवर गंभीर अवस्थेत रुग्णालयात उपचार सुरू आहेत.
मृतांमध्ये संतोष कुराडेकर (वय ४४), त्यांची पत्नी सुवर्णा कुराडेकर आणि मुलगी मंगला कुराडेकर यांचा समावेश आहे. तर दुसरी मुलगी सुनंदा कुराडेकर हिची प्रकृती चिंताजनक असून तिला तातडीने स्थानिक रुग्णालयात दाखल करण्यात आले आहे.
या घटनेची माहिती मिळताच शहापूर पोलीस स्टेशनचे निरीक्षक सिद्धाप्पा सिमानी आणि पोलीस आयुक्त भूषण बोरसे यांनी घटनास्थळी भेट दिली. पोलिसांना मृत संतोष कुराडेकर यांच्याकडून एक सुसाइड नोट सापडली आहे. त्या सुसाइड नोटनुसार, संतोष कुराडेकर हे गेल्या २५ वर्षांपासून जोशीमळा परिसरात वास्तव्यास होते. त्यांनी अनेकांना चिटफंड व्यवहारात गुंतवले होते आणि त्यांच्याकडून मोठ्या प्रमाणात रक्कम उचलली होती. मात्र वेळेत परतफेड शक्य न झाल्यामुळे त्यांच्यावर मोठा आर्थिक आणि मानसिक ताण निर्माण झाला होता.
विशेष म्हणजे, वडगाव येथील सोनार राजू कुडतरकरकडे त्यांनी ५०० ग्रॅम सोने दिले होते. मात्र कुडतरकर यांनी सोने परत न दिल्यामुळे त्यांच्या अडचणी अधिकच वाढल्या. संतोष यांनी गाव सोडून पळून गेल्याच्या अफवा पसरवल्या जात होत्या, यामुळेही त्यांच्यावर सामाजिक दबाव निर्माण झाला होता. या साऱ्या तणावांमुळे त्यांनी आत्महत्येचा निर्णय घेतल्याचे त्यांनी चिठ्ठीत नमूद केले आहे. तसेच, त्यांनी सोने परत मिळवून संबंधित गुंतवणूकदारांना परत द्यावे, अशी विनंतीही चिठ्ठीत नमूद केली आहे.
या प्रकरणाचा तपास शहापूर पोलीस करत असून पुढील कारवाई सुरू आहे.
Belagavi Family Suicide Attempt Over Chit Fund Stress: Three Dead, One Critical
In a tragic incident that shocked Belagavi city, four members of a family attempted suicide by consuming poison on Tuesday morning (July 9) in the Joshi Mala area. Three members — Santosh Kuradekar (44), his wife Suvarna Kuradekar, and daughter Mangala Kuradekar — died, while another daughter Sunanda Kuradekar is undergoing treatment in a critical condition.
Upon receiving information about the incident, Shahapur Police Inspector Siddappa Simani and Police Commissioner Bhushan Borse rushed to the spot. During the investigation, police recovered a suicide note from the deceased Santosh Kuradekar.
According to the note, Santosh had been living in Joshi Mala for the past 25 years and was involved in chit fund operations. He had collected money from several people but was unable to repay them on time, leading to immense financial and mental stress.
The letter also revealed that he had given 500 grams of gold to a jeweller named Raju Kudtarkar from Vadgaon. However, the jeweller allegedly refused to return the gold, further worsening Santosh’s situation. Rumors had also been spreading that Santosh had absconded from the town, causing additional pressure on him.
Driven by severe mental stress, Santosh decided to end his life and that of his family. In his note, he requested that the gold be recovered from Kudtarkar and returned to the concerned investors.
Police are continuing the investigation under the supervision of Shahapur Inspector Siddappa Simani.
